Abstract

This comparative study explores the fundamental differences, advantages, and limitations of hydroponic farming versus traditional soil-based agriculture. With the growing demand for sustainable and efficient food production systems, hydroponics has emerged as a promising alternative that utilizes nutrient-rich water solutions instead of soil. The research investigates key parameters such as resource usage, crop yield, environmental impact, and economic viability. Findings indicate that while hydroponics offers greater control over growing conditions, higher productivity per unit area, and reduced water consumption, traditional farming remains more accessible and cost-effective for large-scale food production in rural areas. The study highlights the potential for integrating both methods to address future food security challenges, especially in urban and arid regions.
