Abstract

As the metaverse reshapes the landscape of education, its profound impact on mental health and well-being has become an essential area of exploration. This chapter explores the dynamic intersection of virtual environments and mental health, examining both the opportunities and challenges faced by educators and students in the metaverse. While immersive digital spaces offer innovative teaching methods and global connectivity, they also introduce unique stressors such as digital fatigue, isolation, and the blurring of work-life boundaries. The chapter highlights the psychological toll of constant engagement in virtual realms, where sensory overload, lack of social cues, and the pressure to remain perpetually available can lead to burnout and emotional exhaustion.
