MSMES: EMPLOYMENT GENERATION TRENDS IN ASSAM AND THEIR ROLE IN ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Abstract

It would be pertinent to mention that, in emerging markets, MSMEs are central to innovation development, job provision, and inclusive sustainable development. These enterprises characterize agility, flexibility, and readiness to respond appropriately to market requirements. In line with this characteristic, MSMEs are taking the lead role in the transformation of socio-economic challenges, encouraging environmental sustainability, and ensuring more inclusive growth for all Micro, small and medium enterprises play a crucial role in creating job opportunities. MSMEs not only employ people as they are labour intensive and employ semi-skilled people reducing unemployment. MSMEs also act as suppliers to large industries, boosting indirect employment.
