PRESERVING THE PAST IN THE FUTURE: AI AS A TOOL FOR CULTURAL SUSTAINABILITY

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming societies across the globe. In West Bengal, India, the adoption of AI is growing across sectors such as education, healthcare, and governance. However, the intersection of technological advancements and cultural preservation poses significant challenges. This paper explores the current state of AI adoption in West Bengal, its sociocultural implications, and the potential for culturally responsive AI systems. By identifying challenges and opportunities, the study proposes a framework to harmonize technological innovation with the region's rich cultural heritage. Employing qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, this paper seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of AI’s role in culturally diverse settings.
