Abstract

In the 21st century, holistic education includes peace education, and individuals can achieve holistic development by becoming global citizens characterized by tolerance, empathy, and brotherhood. In 21st century, social media has transformed the process of communication and discussion, giving marginalized voices a platform. This power can be used to create dialogues among conflicting groups and help peace education initiatives. This qualitative paper investigates the role of social media in peace education, highlighting its potential to foster discussion, encourage peace ideals, and address social inequalities. The author discusses concepts and aims of peace education, dimensions of peace education, types of peace education and role of social media in promoting peace education. The article uses blog pages, journal articles, books, policy documents and other e-resources for secondary data. The author tries to provide a message that if handled with caution social media can promote peace-building efforts.
