Abstract

Peace education is a conceptual framework for which schools may design a programme for the transmission of universal values and enduring attitudes, and the development of skills which will allow students to become active global citizens. The present paper explains the nature of child-centric approach in peace education and describes the differenttypes of peace-learning activities that a teacher can adopt. In the child-centric approach, the teacher is more active at the preparation stage of the lessons than the delivery stage. He has to choose appropriate learning activities. The method that is to be followed is the experiential learning method, popularly known as learning by doing or activity-based learning. Learning from experience needs reflection, conceptualization, generalization and application to new situations.
