THEISM AND ATHEISM: APPRECIATING EMPATHY OF THE COLLEGE TEACHERS AS A MORAL VALUE FOR SOCIETAL WELFARE

Abstract

The study was conducted with 100 college teachers of Kolkata and Howrah region. They were divided into two parts-theists and atheists based on their beliefs on God. Simple random sampling was done in this quantitative survey study. Mean, SD and t test were done. The result revealed that there was no significant difference in the presence of empathy in between the female theist and female atheist, the male atheist and female theist, the urban theist and urban atheist, rural theist and rural atheist and the urban theist and rural atheist college teachers. A significant difference in the presence of empathy was observed in between the male theist and female atheist and the urban atheist and rural theist college teachers.
