Abstract

The role of teachers in today’s increasingly polarized and conflict-ridden world extends well beyond academic instruction, positioning them as vital agents of peacebuilding within their communities and beyond. As trusted mentors and role models, teachers have the unique capacity to shape young minds by instilling values of empathy, tolerance, nonviolence, and mutual respect. This article explores the transformative potential of educators in fostering peaceful coexistence, emphasizing their ability to prevent and resolve conflicts through classroom practices, inclusive pedagogy, and emotional intelligence. It explores the integration of peace education across disciplines, highlights strategies such as role-playing, dialogue facilitation, and community engagement, and underscores the importance of emotional development and safe spaces for student expression.
