As urban centers evolve into smart cities, the integration of information and communication technologies (ICT) has significantly improved efficiency, sustainability, and quality of life. However, this digital transformation also introduces critical cybersecurity challenges. Smart city infrastructure—including transportation systems, energy grids, public services, and communication networks—is increasingly interconnected and vulnerable to cyberattacks. This paper explores the cybersecurity risks inherent in smart city ecosystems and highlights strategies for safeguarding digital infrastructure. Emphasis is placed on threat detection, data privacy, risk management, and the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing security protocols. Through case studies and analysis of emerging trends, the study underscores the urgent need for resilient cybersecurity frameworks to ensure the safety, privacy, and functionality of smart urban environments.Published
