Abstract

Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) has evolved as a critical area of research and practice, emphasizing the alignment of human resource strategies with organizational goals to achieve sustained competitive advantage. This review examines key models of SHRM alignment, including the Fit Model, the Configurational Model, the Best Practice and Best Fit approaches, and the Resource-Based View. It evaluates the theoretical foundations, practical applications, and empirical validations of these models across various organizational contexts. The review highlights the dynamic and context-dependent nature of SHRM alignment, the importance of internal and external fit, and the role of leadership and organizational culture in shaping HRM strategies. It also identifies limitations and areas for future research, particularly regarding digital transformation, agility, and global workforce diversity. By synthesizing existing literature, this study provides a comprehensive understanding of how strategic alignment in HRM can drive organizational performance and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
