Indian Knowledge System (IKS) refers to a rich intellectual heritage of India based on the country's civilizational tradition, encompassing a wide range of disciplines like philosophy, science, medicine, mathematics, arts, spirituality and sustainability practices. Based on the ancient texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, Mahabharata, and Ramayana, IKS offers an integrated worldview that combines material truths with metaphysical wisdom. IKS has played a crucial role in expanding various knowledge systems worldwide. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has made a significant movement in the inclusion of IKS in the education system, especially in Higher Educational Institutions. According to this policy, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has given a detailed guidelines that require all UG and PG students to take credit courses in IKS.Published
