GURUKUL: A TRADITIONAL SYSTEM OF EDUCATION

Abstract

Education plays an important role in making our life better. The education system of India is constantly evolving according to the changing needs of our society. In ancient India, the education system was “culturally and spiritually enriched and advanced” (Pandya, 2014). Gurukul system is an important part of our Indian traditional education system. The Gurukul system of education can be characterized by “Guru-Shishya Parampara, which not only provided the students with the information but also helped them developed as a complete human being who is sensitive and responsible- socially, spiritually and personally” (Srivastava, Agarwal, 2023).
