PROSPECTS AND PROBLEMS OF TOURISM IN WEST BENGAL - A STUDY

Abstract

Tourism sector is an emerging industry in West Bengal. The Govt. Of West Bengal in budget (2024-25) allocates Rs. 519.92 crore. Present Study highlights the prospects and problems of Tourism in West Bengal. We have covered 10 years period from 2013 to 2022. Over the years, we have observed that total no. of foreign tourists and domestic tourists’ arrival around different tourist destinations in West Bengal is increasing. Govt. allocation of funds in budget to Tourism sector is also increasing over the years 2013 to 2022. As Tourism is one of the promising sectors in West Bengal, Govt. Along with the private players in PPP model introduces different projects over the years. Major problem of Tourism in West Bengal is proper maintenance. So, Tourism department must introduce the ticket system for the major attracting tourist destinations. Tourism department must introduce one centralized App to track the tourist.
