STRENGTHENING EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION: ROLE OF NGOS AND PRIVATE SECTOR

Abstract

Education plays a vital role in the holistic development of the child, particularly during the early childhood. Because it is a crucial period in the development of children’s three key domains such as cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. Early Childhood Care and Education is the foundational stage of the lifelong learning which emphasized on cognitive, emotional and social skills. High-quality ECCE Programs promote children’s social inclusion, provide equal opportunity and fosters these domains which are prepared them for the societal needs. ECCE enhances the ability of the children to work socially and also develop their emotional skills which is important for their overall well-being. Effective ECCE employs joyful, interactive, engaging and enjoyment learning into the classroom. So, educators must utilize structured curriculum that align with children’s growth milestones, facilitating appropriate learning experiences. In strengthening ECE, NGOs and Private Sectors play multifaceted approach that addresses access, quality and equity. Various studies show that these sectors play a significantly influenced in the effectiveness of ECCE. The public-private partnership is highlighted a potential strategy to enhanced ECCE. NGOs fill the gaps in ECCE provision in underserved area. The Commonwealth ECCE Toolkit served as a resource for enhancing access, quality and social inclusion that strengthen Early Childhood Care and Education for holistic development.
