Early childhood is a crucial time for development, and trauma can have deep, long-lasting effects, especially when combined with poverty, displacement, and exposure to violence. In India, many young children face overlapping traumatic experiences that can endanger their emotional and psychological health. Trauma-informed care (TIC) incorporated into Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) service can actively help build resilience by meeting trauma head-on, creating safe, trusting, and empowering learning environments. This paper evaluates and discusses the integration of resilience-building and TIC frameworks in Indian ECCE programs, drawing on both research and rich case studies from government and NGO settings. The insights from case studies document diverse healing journeys, underscoring the power of culturally informed interventions and the importance of equipping educators with the right training. The paper also tackles enduring systemic hurdles, such as limited resources and the burden of stigma, and it proposes clear policy steps to deepen and expand trauma-informed care across the board. The overall conclusion calls for steady, long-term investment in trauma-responsive ECCE projects as the best strategy to nurture complete development and lasting resilience in India’s most vulnerable children.Published
