Abstract

Education is continuously transforming. It matches the ever evolving transformation seeing in the industrial revolutions reflecting change and advancement in the philosophical, societal and technological sectors. This transformation from education 1.0 which mainly focuses on teacher centred model to this current and emerging education 5.0 which focus on the use of advanced technology keeping empathy and ethics as its main component. As healthcare professions are also continuously evolving, there is a growing need for corresponding transformation in the educational approaches. Professions like Physiotherapy where it is not just essential to possess strong theoretical background and knowledge but skills like critical thinking, clinical reasoning, empathy, ethics and adaptability with sustainability also matters. This chapter explores the evolution of education from 1.0 to 5.0 and how physiotherapy education has been influenced corresponding to this transformation. It also highlights the limitations and challenges each education system and how education 5.0 is impacting this profession essential for the growth of this course and challenges the profession is facing with advancement in digital technologies.
