AI IN FORMATIVE AND SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS

Assessments, being a part of the teaching-learning process require substantial time and effort. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help to reduce both of these with a broad system-based applicability, enabling educators to concentrate on the teaching strategies. Specific instruction-based interventions by the educators into the algorithms of AI may help to generate desired and accurate outcomes aligned with learning objectives. There remain challenges in the application of AI tools for result-oriented assessments conducted in educational institutions as formative and summative types. Some of these are in the form of complexity in interpretation of the outcomes, inherent biases, lack of coherence among assessments and ethical considerations. Human insight becomes an important factor in the use of AI for assessments.Published
