Abstract

To achieve an effective legal system, dealing with disputes effectively and fairly is the key to the solution. It develops peace and economic prosperity. The growing cases in the traditional courts of India have made the formation of alternative dispute resolution inevitable. Another method that has been recognized in an effort to deliver the justice who is easily accessible is the Lok Adalats (Clammer and Byrne, 2021). These unofficial platforms are based on the Indian historical heritage of community resolution of conflict. They also seek to provide a speedy yet low-cost justice system especially to the socio-economically less fortunate (Hassan and Malik, 2020). The chapter is an analysis of a versatile position held by Lok Adalats in the dispute resolution system of India. It examines their operational structure, legal basis and influence that they bring on the access to justice. It also talks of the hurdles that these bodies encounter and how they can enhance their performance of alleviating the cases that are being congested in the formal court system. The comparative analysis will be made on the basis of Lok Adalats and the global trends of the alternative dispute resolution taking into consideration the effects of digital development and culture-specific strategies applied to the conflict resolution in other countries (Bhushan, 2023)(Rammala, 2021). The contemporary legal map of the world emphasizes the necessity of the efficient dispute resolution.
