ROLE OF LOK ADALATS IN DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Abstract

To achieve an effective legal system, dealing with disputes effectively and fairly is the key to the solution. It develops peace and economic prosperity. The growing cases in the traditional courts of India have made the formation of alternative dispute resolution inevitable. Another method that has been recognized in an effort to deliver the justice who is easily accessible is the Lok Adalats (Clammer and Byrne, 2021). These unofficial platforms are based on the Indian historical heritage of community resolution of conflict. They also seek to provide a speedy yet low-cost justice system especially to the socio-economically less fortunate (Hassan and Malik, 2020). The chapter is an analysis of a versatile position held by Lok Adalats in the dispute resolution system of India.
