TRANSFORMING SOCIETY THROUGH EDUCATION

Abstract

Education has been widely acknowledged as a crucial agent of social change and development in contemporary society. Social change is brought about when existing social systems are unable to meet human needs or when new innovations are suggested as more effective means of fulfilling those needs. A pivotal role has been played by education in facilitating the advancement of science and technology, through which significant transformations have been observed in various aspects of human life. It is regarded as a process through which changes in societal behavior are brought about, whereby individuals are enabled to actively participate in social activities and positive contributions to societal progress are made.
