The paper focuses on achieving sustainable development goals through education. Goal four of the sustainable development goals highlights the importance of quality education, aiming to ensure inclusive and equitable learning opportunities and promote lifelong opportunities for all. A quality education is the foundation of sustainable development and the achievement of sustainable development goals. Education enables self-reliance, boosts economic growth by enhancing skills, and improves people’s lives by opening up opportunities for better livelihoods. However, achieving inclusive and equitable quality education for all will require increased efforts, especially in India. The paper examines the educational policies, initiatives, and practices undertaken by the Indian government. Nonetheless, several issues and challenges hinder progress toward reaching the goal, so it seeks to identify those key issues and challenges facing the education system. It further analyzes the barriers faced by the Indian education system, including poor quality education, lack of infrastructure, inadequate resources, teacher training, inequality, and the digital divide. Finally, it offers recommendations for policymakers, educators, and other stakeholders to strengthen the integration of education and sustainable development goals, improve education, and accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.Published
