Abstract

Education is deeply influenced by the cultural and societal contexts in which learners are situated. This chapter examines the interplay between culture, society, and educational outcomes, highlighting how family, community, social institutions, language, and communication shape learning processes and achievement. It explores the role of cultural beliefs, values, and norms in influencing motivation, goal-setting, and classroom interactions, while addressing the impact of gender roles, equity, and technological exposure on educational participation. By analyzing these dynamics, the chapter emphasizes the importance of culturally responsive teaching, inclusive curricula, and policy interventions that bridge societal disparities and promote holistic human development. Recognizing the significance of culture and society in education not only enhances teaching effectiveness but also fosters equitable learning opportunities for diverse learners, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and multicultural world.
