This chapter explores the intricate relationship between the self, the ego, and the process of transcendence—a journey central to human consciousness and spiritual psychology. While the ego represents the constructed personality that interacts with the external world, the self symbolizes the deeper, unchanging center of awareness that transcends all identities. The conflict and reconciliation between these two dimensions form the essence of inner evolution. Drawing upon the insights of modern psychology, transpersonal theories, and ancient Indian philosophy, this chapter examines how human beings can move beyond egoic conditioning toward the realization of higher consciousness. It also highlights practical pathways—such as meditation, mindfulness, surrender, and selfless action—that lead to transcendence. Ultimately, it presents the evolution of consciousness as the journey from the fragmented ego to the unified self, from illusion to truth, and from individuality to universality.Published
