SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE IN TEACHER EDUCATION

Abstract

Spiritual Intelligence plays a vital role in Teacher Education. A teacher with high Spiritual Intelligence teaches effectively and experiences professional growth in the teaching profession. Teacher-educators who are warm, genuine, and empathic are best able to engage the teacher trainees in the change process. Therefore, teacher-educators need to be selected not by merely testing their cognitive abilities but by testing their affective as well as spiritual competencies. It has also to be ensured that they make use of these abilities when working with the teacher-trainees. This research paper focuses on the benefits and barriers of Spiritual Intelligence in Teacher Education. A conceptual framework for integrating Spiritual Intelligence development into the existing Teacher Education Program has been provided in the research work.
