Abstract

This chapter presents the manipulation of interpersonal relationships, which can have a profound impact on an individual’s mental health, often contributing to conditions such as depression and trauma. Emotional and psychological manipulation through tactics such as gaslighting, guilt-tripping, or coercive control undermines self-worth and distorts the perception of reality. Prolonged exposure to manipulative behaviour can lead to chronic stress, emotional numbness, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. Understanding the link between manipulation and mental health outcomes is essential for early detection, therapeutic intervention and emotional recovery. Strengthening self-awareness and establishing healthy boundaries are key steps toward healing and resilience. The researcher here will explain the causes of Manipulation and Mental Health: Depression and Trauma, and ways to get rid of them. The researcher will also shed light on how problems in life can be tough through manipulation and what effect manipulation has on mental health, and how manipulation can become trauma in our life.
