Abstract

Self-esteem and identity are central to human development and psychological well-being. Together, they shape how individuals perceive themselves, interact with others, and navigate challenges in personal and professional life. This paper explores the interrelation between self-esteem and identity, their theoretical foundations, and their influence on behaviour, motivation, and mental health. Drawing on key psychological perspectives, including Rosenberg’s theory of self-esteem, the study examines how self-perception affects emotional resilience, relationships, and coping mechanisms. The discussion highlights that self-esteem and identity are dynamic constructs that continuously evolve through experience, reflection, and social interaction.
