Emotional trust and interpersonal dependency play a critical role in shaping the quality, stability, and psychological outcomes of human relationships. Trust forms the foundation of emotional safety and intimacy, while interpersonal dependency influences how individuals seek support, closeness, and reassurance from others. Although dependency can function adaptively by fostering connection and cooperation, excessive dependency may lead to emotional distress, relationship imbalance, and vulnerability to social loss. This chapter examines the concepts of emotional trust and interpersonal dependency, analyzes their psychological underpinnings, and discusses their effects on interpersonal relationships and well-being. The discussion highlights the importance of achieving a balance between autonomy and reliance on others to foster healthy and secure relational bonds.Published
