RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY ENVIRONMENT AND MENTAL HEALTH OF COLLEGE STUDENTS

Abstract

In the present study the investigators attempt to carry out a correlational study on family environment and mental health of college students. 260 students are selected using stratified random sampling from Government-aided degree colleges of Nadia district in West Bengal. The Family Environment Scale and Mental Health Battery are used. Analysis is done according to the various dimensions of family environment and mental health. It is also presented as per gender, location, family structure, and number of children. It reveals that all the dimensions of family environment, except expressiveness are positively and significantly correlated to college students’ mental health.
