Abstract

Mental health awareness has become an essential component of contemporary educational practice, as students increasingly face academic pressure, social challenges, and digital distractions. This chapter examines the growing need for mental health promotion in schools and highlights how emotional well-being directly influences learning, behaviour, and classroom engagement. It emphasizes the pivotal role of teachers in identifying early warning signs, establishing supportive relationships, and integrating socio-emotional learning (SEL) into classroom routines. The chapter also discusses the importance of creating positive and inclusive learning environments that reduce anxiety and foster belongingness. Schools are encouraged to adopt whole-school mental health policies, strengthen counselling services, and collaborate closely with parents. Additionally, the chapter addresses emerging digital-age concerns, such as cyberbullying and screen addiction, and underscores the importance of resilience-building practices. Ultimately, fostering mentally healthy classrooms is crucial for holistic student development and long-term societal well-being.
