WETLAND PRESERVATION: AN INDISPENSABLE INITIATIVE TO SUSTAIN ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

‘Wetland’ is that intermediate orb of the diverse ecosystem which connects both the habitat of aquatic and land creatures. Being exuberant of essential minerals and nutrients, wetlands are the congenial dwelling places for numerous micro or macro-organisms. Thus, sustaining the complex interaction between flora and fauna, it is indispensable to conserve natural wetlands. To maintain the entire balance of the environment, wetlands perform a vital role by keeping continuity of the food chain and recycling process in the environment naturally. This essential part of the environment has been recognized just a few years ago courtesy to the immense contribution of scientific research, though it has been performing its necessary function silently since inception of the earth. At present, it is accepted that we need to preserve these natural wetlands for our healthy future because of its capacity of sustainability to uphold the modern civilization. Thus, it may be said that wetlands are the asset of the nature, which is hardly possible to replace.
