In recent years, the escalating concerns about environmental degradation and climate change have prompted the integration of cutting-edge technologies into environmental monitoring practices. This review paper examines the role of Smart Technologies, particularly the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), in revolutionizing environmental monitoring for a sustainable future. By leveraging IoT devices, sensors, and interconnected networks, real-time data collection and analysis have become feasible on a large scale, facilitating proactive environmental management strategies. Furthermore, AI algorithms empower these systems to interpret complex data patterns, predict environmental trends, and optimize resource allocation for enhanced sustainability. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in IoT and AI applications across various environmental domains, including air and water quality monitoring, waste management, and biodiversity conservation. Additionally, it discusses the challenges and opportunities associated with the adoption of Smart Technologies in environmental monitoring, such as data privacy concerns, interoperability issues, and the need for stakeholder collaboration. Through a critical analysis of existing literature and case studies, this review highlights the transformative potential of IoT and AI in mitigating environmental risks, informing evidence-based policy decisions, and fostering a greener tomorrow.Published
