Abstract

The modern workplace is getting more and more marked with intricate interpersonal relationships, quick organizational transformation and diverse workforce, all of which serve as the cause of workplace conflict. Such conflicts when not controlled may lead to decreased productivity, lack of morale and increased turnover. Emotional Intelligence (EI) or the skill to perceive, understand, manage, and regulate emotions in oneself and others has become a key determinant when it comes to forecasting effective conflict resolution and bringing about harmony in the workplace. This paper examines how EI can help reduce interpersonal conflict, strengthen teamwork and create a psychologically safe workplace.
