Abstract

Over the past decades, the tourism sector has experienced a vast evolution due to the impact of technology, changing consumer demand and need to have an immersive experience. Virtual Reality (VR) is one of the most popular emerging technologies that may change tourist behavior regarding their interactions with the destination, trip planning, as well as reflections on traveling. The Virtual Reality technology helps users to experience simulated spaces that are sensually rich, interactive and present in a way that replicates real world spaces. Research and is working theorize that VR has the potential to maximize pre-visit experience, add to on-site experience, and extend post-visit satisfaction, which can result in a full tourism experience that diffuses the barrier between the real and digital worlds.
