Abstract

Within a world where workforce heterogeneity is coming to be viewed as a strategic resource, conventional Human Resources (HR) models are pushed to consider the multifaceted interactions between various social identities which then combine to influence the workplace experiences of employees. Intersectionality Intersectionality is a concept of critical social theory that recognizes that everyone is in many identity groups (gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, and class) that intersect to give both advantageous and disadvantaged experiences. Although intersectionality is theoretically rich, it has been used sparsely in the mainstream HR strategy, which has left gaps in organizational policies that aim to promote inclusion, equity, and belonging.
