Abstract

The education system is experiencing a paradigm shift as it leaves behind the traditional pedagogies based on instructors, to participatory learning approaches that focus on collaboration, learner agency, and knowledge co-construction. The traditional teaching methods, which are based on one-way transfer of information, are more and more considered to be unsuitable to meet the multifaceted cognitive, social, and professional requirements of the 21 st century. The participatory type of learning models resettle the learners as agents of learning, not as receivers of the learning, where the educators and the learners share the responsibility of learning.
