LIBRARIES IN THE NEW ERA OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Abstract

Background: The recent advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools has a pervasive effect in every sphere of human existence. Libraries and information centres are not immune to these technological advances. These disruptive technologies have transformed the traditional face of libraries and their operations. There are many available AI tools now, for example, Chatbots, Literature Review Tools, and Plagiarism Detection Tools. Also, several other developments in the field have made the functioning of libraries easier. However, there are growing concerns and uncertainty among both traditional librarians and modern information professionals regarding the possible job loss and other issues related to these new technologies. Professionals must deal with these disruptive technologies to better serve their patrons.
