Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is steadily transforming traditional agriculture across the globe and in India it is slowly but steadily changing the scenario. Agriculture remains the backbone of the Indian economy, employing over half of the population and contributing significantly to the Gross Domestic Product. Agriculture in India supports a significant share of the population and spans a diverse and expansive landscape. However, the sector continues to struggle with numerous challenges, including shifting climate conditions, limited water availability, frequent pest outbreaks, and the urgent need to improve yields. In this context, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has recently emerged as a powerful tool, introducing innovative approaches that are reshaping traditional agricultural practices to achieve higher efficiency, sustainability and profitability. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of how AI is reshaping Indian agriculture. It delves into various AI applications such as precision farming, pest and disease detection, weather forecasting, and market intelligence.
