INTEGRATING VALUES THROUGH TECHNOLOGY: VOYAGING TOWARDS MACHINERY MORALITY

Though there is a difference in between morality and values, where values refer to one’s own beliefs and principles and morality refers to the system related right or wrong, in a way they are used as synonymous because both the words deal with the right or wrong whether self-intricated or society implicated. 21st century is called the digital age. In the education sector also, we can’t think of a school without a computer. As technology has been involved in each activity of education, it can be used to develop and imply values and ethics within the school students. The researcher in this qualitative study, went through various old research and took interviews of 40 secondary level school-teachers of Kolkata district (Purposive sampling technique was used) to know their conception of the role of technology in disseminating value education in school. The role of the teachers and the issues that can create hindrance in providing value education with the help of technology were also discussed in this study. Some suggestions are given here for using digital mediums in educational institutions for developing values and morality of the students.Published
