Sustainable development is a dynamic and holistic concept. This development as a guiding paradigm for the 21st century, seeks to be compatible with economic growth, social equity and environmental protection. This study provides a multi-dimensional analysis of sustainable development, exploring its dynamic interrelationship with society, education and culture. The study’s central argument is that true sustainability cannot be achieved through environmental or economic efforts alone; rather, it requires a holistic integration of social structures, educational transformation and cultural preservation. Drawing on national initiatives in the Indian context as well as frameworks set by international organizations such as the United Nations and UNESCO, this study examines how social inclusion, educational innovation and cultural continuity can collectively contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education). This paper analyses the historical evolution of sustainable development, tracing its roots from the Brundtland Commission to the contemporary SDG agenda and explores how education and culture have gradually emerged as important drivers of sustainable practice. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is presented as a transformative tool that promotes environmental literacy, civic responsibility and global citizenship among students. The Indian context is specifically examined through case studies of local education reforms, community-led environmental initiatives and efforts to preserve intangible cultural heritage. Using an interdisciplinary approach that combines theoretical frameworks, policy analysis and empirical examples, the paper argues for a more inclusive and culturally sensitive model of sustainable development. The study concludes with recommendations for more effectively integrating culture and education into sustainability policies and development strategies, especially in diverse and developing societies like India.Published
