VALUE EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS: ROLE OF TEACHERS IN DEVELOPING AESTHETIC VALUES

Value Education is fundamentally about nurturing and guiding emotions and feelings of individuals. It deals with a broad range of learning and activities, including physical health, mental well-being, manners, social behavior, civic rights as well as aesthetic and in some cases religious studies. It is value education that aims to cultivate a mind that is healthy, pure, natural and attentive with the capacity for higher sensitivity. Aesthetic values refer to the principles related to beauty and the appreciation of what is beautiful. Specially children display aesthetic impulses and express their urge through activities like painting, music, modeling, gardening and other creative activities. Teachers play a significant role in fostering aesthetic values among their students. Recognizing the importance of value education for students and developing atheistic values among them, this study explores the definition of value education, need of value education, aims and objectives and analyzes the role of teachers in developing aesthetic values among school students.Published
