Abstract

Value development in education is very important for helping students in overall growth. The idea of value education is not just about imparting academic knowledge or facts, but it also helps students learn different values like moral, ethical, social etc. Teacher’s play a big part in this process because they not only teach subjects, but they also influence how students think and act. Through what they do, how they teach, and how they behave, teachers help students learn values like being honest, respectful, kind, and responsible. In culturally heterogeneous societies we all teachers face multiple values that students may hold. The job of a teacher goes beyond just teaching lessons; they act as examples and guides who help students understand and believe in these values. This paper explores that a teacher's role in value development in education and demonstrates how teachers' behavior and attitudes can help shape the values of students. Also examines the critical role of teachers in fostering moral and ethical values among young individuals, a responsibility that extends beyond academic instruction. Through a combination of modelling positive behaviours, integrating value-based lessons into the curriculum, and creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, teachers can cultivate essential values such as empathy, integrity, respect, and responsibility.
