ROLE OF RABINDRA SANGEET IN VALUE FORMATION AMONG THE SCHOOL STUDENTS

The aim of value education is to cultivate a well-rounded and cohesive personality. In nature, values are not innate. It is learnt and ingrained. The family, its surroundings and customs (samskara), and compassion all contribute significantly to the formation of pupils’ values. Numerous national and international committees have made statements in support of orienting education towards values. Rabindranath Tagore’s musical works, known as Rabindra Sangeet, are renowned for their tremendous lyricism and emotional depth and are firmly anchored in Bengali culture. This study analyzes how Rabindra Sangeet might facilitate school children to develop their values. Rabindranath Tagore’s songs, Rabindra Sangeet, greatly assist in the creation of values by advocating global humanity, heritage, and optimistic outlooks. Considering its abundance of intellectual and artistic disciplines, Tagore’s music offers an outline for comprehending and integrating ideals like affection, liberty, and oneness to the natural world. The songs are an effective teaching and individual developmental resource because of their sentimental intensity and adaptability. Rabindranath’s compositions are divided into different parts. Regarding the purpose of this research, the researcher only used one portion, which is Porishisto 3. Two songs have been selected to illustrate the value formation associated with the Rabindra Sangeet.The paper discusses about the formation of values among the students and how Rabindra Sangeet is connected with value formation. For this research, the researcher here used the qualitative descriptive method. Afterwards, the investigator highlights the theme of value formation hidden in the songs. Finally, she has given some suggestions so that the values can be enhanced and inculcated among the students.Published
