Abstract

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education has become a global priority due to its direct connection with innovation, economic development, and scientific literacy. However, its implementation faces significant challenges such as unequal access, outdated curricula, insufficient teacher training, gender disparities, and digital divides. At the same time, rapid technological transformations such as artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual laboratories, and blended-learning ecosystems are generating new opportunities to enhance STEM learning. This chapter critically evaluates the present challenges in STEM education and explores the emerging possibilities that can transform learning for future generations. Recent research highlights the importance of interdisciplinary learning, equity-oriented policies, culturally relevant pedagogy and immersive technologies in improving STEM outcomes. The chapter concludes with strategic recommendations for strengthening STEM ecosystems globally.
