Abstract

Periodic Labour Force Survey reports of India reflect that women’s employment in agricultural sector has increased significantly during 2017-2024. However, it could not resolve the incidences of wage-gap between male and female workers involved in cultivation in India. Therefore, the present study is an attempt to analyze women’s empowerment in true sense in Indian agriculture. The study lights on the reasons behind the rising trend of women employment in Indian agriculture along with the challenges they face which induce wage-gap between men and women. Although government has taken several initiatives for the well-being of women folk engaged in agriculture, support from the male counterpart by means of changing societal norms and flexible work options are fundamental for realization of women empowerment.
