Abstract

Teacher development is essential for creating successful educators who can promote student growth and contribute to a thriving society. Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), with their insights into human development, provide a great framework for improving teacher education curriculum and methodology. Integrating Indian Knowledge Systems ideas and practices into teacher education programs aims to develop holistic educators who respect knowledge, compassion, and well-being. The century-long NEP 2020 policy aids in the integration of IKS for teacher development. This research explores how utilizing IKS might benefit instructors’ overall growth. This article discusses the various aspects of IKS and its potential to enhance teacher education curriculum and methodology. It also investigates the links between IKS, teacher education, and NEP 2020. It provides practical techniques for introducing IKS into teacher education programs, highlighting the value of collaboration, experiential learning, and community engagement. This highlights the importance of supporting IKS research in teacher education to improve the integration of these ideas and practices.
