Our country has a rich history of ancestral skills in numerous fields, especially in arts, its natural resources and knowledge. These traditional arts have been passed down from ancient times, the form of which we see in the Patachitra of Bengal. Its characteristic form and features are not only ancient but are also found in various forms. The Patachitra is created based on specific themes, and artists often perform Pata Sangeet, a narrative folk song. It is a prominent folk tradition of rural art of Bengal. The communities have witnessed a surge in the value in the traditional knowledge, which is known as Indian knowledge System (IKS). These include ancient method of knowledge, like- ancestral farming process, herbal medicine, handicraft and eco-friendly lifestyle etc. This research paper explores how the integration of rural artisans and entrepreneurs of these ancient traditions can help build a prosperous, self reliant and sustainable rural economy. It explains the importance of both concepts. That is, the influence of traditional arts and crafts on the society, and various ways and suggestions. In addition, we can further expand the knowledge that has already been bought from our rural heritage, and create innovative forms, culture and progress that are emerging or create link between the society and folk Art. This can become a determination of the traditional Indian knowledge System in India. This can improve the income of artisans and the quality of their livelihood.Published
