India’s ancient wisdom, known as the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), is a treasure chest of ideas from Ayurveda to Vedic math, rooted in texts, traditions, and indigenous practices. It’s been a guiding light for centuries, but today, it’s fighting to stay relevant. This paper dives into the challenges holding IKS back—like fading traditions, missing institutional backing, language barriers, and the long shadow of colonial rule. We’ll look at why IKS matters, from keeping India’s cultural heart beating to offering eco-friendly solutions and inspiring new ideas. The main sections unpack specific hurdles, like the loss of old-school learning systems, intellectual property theft, and the digital gap that keeps rural wisdom offline. We’ll also talk about ways to turn things around—think revitalizing traditional education, teaming up traditional and modern experts, and using tech to save ancient knowledge. The paper wraps up by calling for a balanced approach to blend IKS with today’s world, ensuring it thrives. Suggestions include stronger policies, community involvement, and global partnerships to make IKS a gift to the world again. By tackling these issues, India can revive its intellectual roots and share its wisdom globally.Published
