Abstract

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs), occupational stress and work participation are deeply interconnected factors that define modern occupational health. WMSDs are a leading global cause of disability and absenteeism. This chapter will discuss injuries resulting from overuse and those that develop over time. Frequent and repetitive work activities or activities with awkward postures cause these disorders, which may be painful during work or at rest. Comprehensive intervention must move beyond physical ergonomics to include postural correction, stress management and organizational shifts (mandatory rest breaks and mental health support) to improve long-term work participation and quality of life. Therefore, this chapter aimed to assess the prevalence of WMSDs, their associated factors and impact on the quality of life.
