Abstract

Accessibility is a major challenges for the individuals with disabilities in engagement in education, employment, socialization and communication and independent living skills. Technological development have greatly impacted accessibility by providing innovative technology that minimize physical, sensory, cognitive, and communication barriers. this review paper reviews the use of technology to improve accessibility for individual with disabilities, using assistive technology, artificial intelligence (AI), Information and communication technology (ICT), and Inclusive design principles. Based on a comprehensive range of literature, this paper reviews show the positive effects of technology on independence, quality of life, and social inclusion, while also considering the ethical issues, cost, digital division, and bias. The results show that technology is an innovative force in accessibility, but for long-term benefits, there is a need for equal access and favourable policies for individual with disabilities.
