Abstract

Altruism entails a selfless concern for the welfare of others, without anticipating any return or personal benefit, and is regarded as a fundamental aspect of prosocial behavior. Psychologically, altruism is influenced by empathy, moral reasoning, and social norms, often manifesting in acts of cooperation and charity. Altruism has not only seen improving the overall well-being (physical, psychological, and social) of an individual but also fosters trust, collaboration, and a sense of community, making societies more resilient and compassionate. Whether innate, learned, or cultivated, altruism remains a powerful force for good.
