Abstract

Indian philosophical traditions, such as those embedded in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism, provide profound insights into moral and ethical education, emphasizing values like Dharma (righteousness), Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), and Karma (action and consequence). These teachings, deeply rooted in Indian culture, have the potential to create a comprehensive framework for developing ethically responsible citizens. In the modern context, these principles can be integrated into the educational system to foster a well-rounded development of individuals who are not only academically proficient but also ethically grounded, emotionally intelligent, and socially responsible. This chapter explores how these Indian philosophical principles can be practically applied within the modern educational system to nurture compassion, integrity, and social awareness in students.
